Thanksgiving in America!

SMARTee was excited to be able to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with the students at Cumberland Academy of Georgia. Thanksgiving is an annual national holiday marked by religious observances and a traditional meal including turkey. The holiday commemorates a harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621, and is held in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. A similar holiday is held in Canada, usually on the second Monday in October.

This Thanksgiving SMARTee spend the week traveling with on of Mrs. Gelbaum’s students. SMARTee traveled with Micah and his family to West Palm Beach, Florida to celebrate. His first adventure began by flying from Atlanta to West Palm Beach. SMARTee was super excited to earn his wings and meet the pilot on his plane!

While in Florida SMARTee enjoyed the beautiful warm weather and some fun activities with Micah and his family. They spent time at the pool, riding bikes, and of course visiting with family.

SMARTee’s Adventures in Atlanta, Georgia

SMARTee arrived in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of October. The students at Cumberland Academy of Georgia were very excited for his arrival and to celebrate Halloween with SMARTee. SMARTee began his visit spending time with Mrs. Gelbaum and her family. Mrs. Gelbaum is Jewish and spends every Friday night with her family at Shabbat dinner. SMARTee helped say the blessings over the candles and to cut the challah.  He really enjoyed the traditional Sabbath meal with Mrs. Gelbaum’s family.

SMARTee’s adventures continued during the Halloween celebration with Mrs. Gelbaum’s students. He really enjoyed seeing the students dressed up in their costumes. They enjoyed going trick-or-treating at the senior retirement home next to Cumberland Academy of Georgia.
